PTPTN Repayment Exemption - Convert to Scholarship 2013/2014

Exempt PTPTN Loan ?
Convert PTPTN Loan to Scholarship ?
Find out more in this blog post ! :D

Heyaaa guys !
It's me writing again, finally,
after so long ! lol

I'm sooooo happy because
my application for the conversion of PTPTN loan to scholarship
has just been approved !
Yes, this means I DON'T have to pay back any single CENTS to PTPTN,
for my loan repayment is exempted :D
Weeeee :D !

and now,
I'm just gonna share with you guys
the procedure of the application of PTPTN loan repayment exemption.
BE SURE that you read this post carefully
and don't miss out any important points/notes ;) !

Okay.

Here are the requirements:-
  1. Obtaining Bachelor Degree with First Class Honour.
  2. Attended the course full-time.
  3. Completed the studies in the period stipulated in the PTPTN education funding document of agreement.
  4. The PTPTN education funding did not overlap with any other sponsorship.
  5. Application must be submitted within a period of twelve (12) months from the date of convocation.
  6. The course attended at IPTS had obtained the Certificate of Accreditation from MQA.

Regarding point no.1
Some people insist that an Advanced Diploma is equivalent to a Bachelor Degree, especially those from TARC. If you think you're eligible in that sense, you can try to appeal, IDK.

Also, if you're from IPTS (Private Colleges/Universities), the course you attended must be MQA accredited.

So here are the documents you'll need:-
  1. Copy of result transcript
  2. Copy of certificate of completion of study/course (with a First Class)
  3. Letter of verification of First Class (only if the words "First Class" are not stated on your cert)
  4. Copy of certificate of accreditation from MQA (if you're from IPTS)
  5. Application letter

All the documents should be photocopied and VERIFIED by your college/university.
Those who are from IPTS MUST attach certificate of MQA (item no.4),
you can request it from your school

As for application letter,
here I attach a document.

you guys can just modify those ITALIC LINES and remember to "UN-ITALIC" them after modification !

Note:-
  1. If you can't obtain your Kod Kolej, exclude it.
  2. Remove line no.4 (MQA Cert) if you are not attaching it.
  3. Feel free to add any items to the list if you're attaching them.
  4. Some people suggest that you'd include No. Rujukan in the letter, but, not essential. I didn't mention my No. Rujukan. The attached letter is exactly the one I submitted for my application.
  5. You don't have to tell the officers or whosoever how good you're, be it in academics or extracurricular activities
  6. You don't have to tell the officers or whosoever how poor you're for the repayment blah blah blah
After preparing all these necessary documents,
just submit it to PTPTN office and that's all !

*Avoid submitting your application through mail/post.
Submit it directly to PTPTN office and make sure that you receive a confirmation letter stating that your application is being processed.

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next,
just a little background of myself
so that you get an idea of the time frame of the story or something lol

I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in around May/June 2013
Graduation/Convocation was on 20th Oct 2013

*Take note that you can only apply for PTPTN loan repayment exemption after convocation or, rather, after getting your original result transcript and certificate of course completion.

Most importantly, I submitted my application on 24th Oct 2013, at PTPTN office in Damansara Height (Near HELP).

Just few days ago, on 26th of December 2013,
I received a letter from PTPTN saying that my application is approved !
Woaahh ! :D
It's a little faster than I expected (I expected to receive the letter in Jan 2014) !

Here's the letter ;)

ptptn repayment exemption
Jiang Jiang ~

I'm NOT on PTPTN loan.
Weeee :D

So,
for those PTPTN loan recipients who obtain a First Class in Bachelor Degree,
What are you waiting for ?
Apply for loan repayment exemption or convert it to scholarship NOW !

and if you have any enquiry regarding the application of PTPTN loan repayment exemption,
feel free to drop me comments ;) !

    1. I got it RIGHT after submitting my documents in the office. If you didn't receive it on the spot, then you should be receiving it in 3 months time I think. Otherwise, call them to follow up :)

i called them to follow up just now,
1st call, they said they didnt receive my application and said will help me to check, and then the call disconnected.
2nd call, the other guy said if u submit over counter, sure under processing.
3rd call, the other girl said, the system down, ask me to call later =.=

BTW, The time when i submit the document over counter at one stop center putrajaya, the girl just said "that all for this and please allow us for 3 month to process your application". Can i know which office you submit your application ?

  2. hi, I have some problems that perhaps you answered me
I'm study degree for 2 years because I am proceed study after Diploma, here is the questions.
    1) PTPTN stated "Completed the studies in the period stipulated in the PTPTN education funding document of agreement.", when I applying PTPTN for degree, the only option I can choose is to loan 3 years, but now I'm finish degree in 2 years, so am I still eligible to apply?

    2) Because I've finished the study 1 year before the loan agreements period ends, shall I do termination on the loan before applying repayment exemption? But PTPTN also stated cancellation of loan will not eligible to apply repayment exemption. Then now what? I still in loan agreement period, and can I go apply repayment exemption?

    3) How to check if my IPTS or courses are verified by MQA? Any recommended websites?

    1. Hi,

DON'T ever terminate your loan. you're PROBABLY still eligible to apply for the exemption, but the exempted amount might not be full (maybe 2 years instead of 3 full years ?).
You might want to confirm with PTPTN regarding this issue.

      #3 Check it here: http://www.mqa.gov.my/mqr
On the left, choose your institute category accordingly and search.

    3. Hi, is me again, finally my transcript and certification are finally ready for collection which I can start apply for repayment exemption, few more questions need to be clarify

      1) My university has partnership with an UK University, thus I will get two sets of transcripts and certifications, 1 from my university, another 1 from UK university. In the repayment exemption application, should I put only my university set of transcript and certification or should I put both sets?

      2) My transcript are ready for collection, but my convocation is expected held on June, should I start apply now? or after convocation would be better?'

      3) As I mention, I proceed from diploma to degree, and I have loan twice (1 for diploma, 1 for degree) and I know only degree can apply for exemption, so should I mention I am apply for degree exemption the application letter?

Thanks, have a nice day :)

May I know how did the verification work? Do I neet to get a conforming letter from Uni's academic director?

    1. Hi.

It's usually a signature/stamping on your photocopied documents from your college/uni.

You can also seek help from the person who's in charge of PTPTN in your college. He/she should be able to settle it for you :)

  10. Hi,

I got an issue regarding to the repayment exemption.
As the condition of repayment exemption wrote that we need to "Completed the studies in the period stipulated in the PTPTN education funding document of agreement."
But, my course was 3 years and the period stipulated in the agreement was less than 3 years. I can't complete my course with less than 3 years time (so sad).
As what I know, this condition was new and actually i had applied for ptptn since year 2012 september.
Besides that, I was also wondering why my other friends agreement had stated the period with 3 years time or maybe more than( which their course also with 3 years time)
So, I was thinking whether I can go for an appeal or any suggestion you all can give me?
It is quite unfair that I got to complete my course in less than 3 years while the others can complete in 3 years time.
    Thank you.

I'd collected all documents to be submitted to PTPTN for loan exemption, however for item no.1 (copy of result transcript), PTPTN does not accept my result transcript due to it does not written cgpa/gpa result. The transcript only shows that I got a pass for each subject, and the marks I obtained. In this case, what should I do?

  24. hey, congratulations on the successful conversion of PTPTN loan to scholarship although it has been more than one year already. I have a question here regarding this loan exemption actually and it has bordered me quite some time. among the requirement set by PTPTN side, one of them says that overlapping of SPONSORSHIP is not allowed. May i know how did they define this sponsorship because throughout my degree study, i receive scholarship for top achiever from my own institution and it is in the form of tuition fee waiver which doesnt need to be repaid. In this case, is the scholarship considered a sponsorship and will this inhibit me from successfully converting the loan to a scholarship?? thanks in advance :)

  36. Hey there, this post is very helpful to me.

I have done my submission to PTPTN HQ (Near Help) & sadly have been rejected due to the MQA cert is incompleted.
In fact, I had submitted complete document and every copies have been verified by my school of faculty. The person who received also checked and replied no problem on my submission. Today I went to the PTPTN counter again and met another female named Norhiza. She looked through my submission copies and replied to me saying that the MQA cert required another verification from Financial Department so that PTPTN can process. What a confusing statement she said to me.

May I know which department of school should verify MQA cert so that PTPTN could approve my application? I sincerely need your help and kind attention.

I did go through every verification process from my school of faculty, and the person who prepared all the documents for me also told me that these are the documents they required. Moreover, unfortunately, I received another rejection letter from PTPTN saying that my documents are incomplete. I am very frustrating about this matter. 37. Hi,

I am currently a second year student (sem 3) for this coming semester (september 2015). I was under PTPTN for my 1st and 2nd sem and i got offered JPA scholarship recently. I read from PTPTN website that i can get exemption of repayment if financing education PTPTN does not overlap with any other sponsorship at any semester during the course of study.

There will be an overlap between JPA and PTPTN for this coming sem 3 for me right? to get exemption of repayment for sem 1 and 2, i need to pay for sem 3, the overlapping sem first?

Here was the FAQ from PTPTN website:
    Question 7 :
I had cancelled PTPTN financing because I received other sponsorship. Nonetheless, I graduated my Bachelor's Degree with First Class Honours. May I apply for exemption of repayment of the education financing?

    Answer :
Yes, provided that PTPTN financing education does not overlap with any other sponsorship at any semester during the course of study. If there has been an overlap of sponsorship, the financing recipient has to settle/ repay theoverlapping amount first before being considered for exemption of repayment. Terms and conditions apply.

  41. Hi.. I have a question. I have applied loan in 2012; but I changed my study course in 2013.. and I didn't inform PTPTN. The completion of the whole course is 3 years; but I still have few semesters to go.. and PTPTN is already requesting me to pay. So the question here is.. PTPTN loan will expire in 3 years; even if I am still studying? Because if I ask PTPTN to renew to my current course.. I still don't think I will finish my study course in time. I am not a smart student. I took few subjects compare to other students in a semester which made me finish slow.
